Vet Confessionals

A Community of Compassion

About Us

Based in Massey University, New Zealand, Vet Confessionals is a Massey veterinary student initiative established in 2014. In recognition of the high global rates of burnout, suicide and feelings of isolation in veterinary students and professionals, we seek to provide a safe and anonymous outlet for emotion and creativity.

Despite our name, Vet Confessionals is an avenue for everyone involved in the veterinary profession – not just veterinarians! If you’re part of the industry, and have something you want to get off your chest, why don’t you submit a secret? Find out how to here.

The Vet Confessionals project has gone global – we started from New Zealand, and have now been to the United States and Australia, with big plans for even more appearances! Connect with us on Facebook, to keep up-to-date with Vet Confessionals news.

Our next event is the WSAVA and FECAVA Congress, in Copenhagen, on the 25-28 September 2017. Come listen to our presentation, say ‘hi’ to our team members, and share a secret at our booth!

"Animal care professionals are some of the most pain-saturated people I have ever worked with. The very thing that makes them great at their work – their empathy and dedication and love for animals – makes them vulnerable."

− J. Eric Gentry, Ph.D. – Expert on traumatic stress and compassion fatigue

"You are not your illness. You have an individual story to tell. You have a name, a history, a personality. Staying yourself is part of the battle."

− Julian Seifter, M.D.
